It's my birthday! Well, not yet technically. I'm writing this near midnight, and this will likely be uploaded on the 13th, maybe the 14th. I plan on staying away from the internet in general for the day since I want to spend my time with real people.
I know it's been a while... 对不起. I was incredibly busy with college, then suddenly decided to switch my position. The job market scares me, and I hate other art students (lol.) I have many reasons for my switch but most of it boils down to those two reasons. In the meantime, I've been packing my things to move back with my family for a while. I'll mourn the independence, but it's useless for me to be wasting money living in one of the most expensive places in the world if I'm not getting an education, is it not? And in general, I don't really want to live here unless if I have to. I'm not suited for big cities, cars anger me and it smells of shit all the time. I've been fantasizing about living in the forest lately...
I'm too attached to public services (water, electricity, internet) to become a full recluse like Kaczynski though. I just need a place with less people, and more greenery. Where I live now feels like the Rat Utopia experment.
<-- i'd be a "beautiful one." which one would you be? please email with your response. :)
Additionally, a partial reason is that my health has declined. I've recently had issues breathing properly, and scans have shown that it may be a deviated septum of sorts. It causes severe irritation and has been worsening my sleep for a while. Sleep deprivation is so dangerous, I feel like I've been lobotomized if I do not get the sleep I need. I don't have a set-in-stone schedule, and sleep rather late, but I do still need a peaceful 8 hours. This deviation has caused me to only get 3-4 hours at once, and it's definitely taken its toll. It's quite hard to want to write or do things when your brain doesn't get the rest it needs. There are procudures that can be done to try and fix this, but the wait time is long and they want to rule out all causes.
The third reason is that my old computer was shit, and I recently moved devices. I used an old macbook from 2012 with debian loaded onto it (dad's hand-me-down), but it kept resulting in problems, the main one being that the battery on my macbook was asinine. I could not use my computer for longer than an hour without it dying, regardless of the charge. It also seemed to not know if it was supposed to be on or off, and would keep itself on at night, further draining the battery. I am someone who does not believe in the constant upgrade culture that people have (or switching/distrohopping tranny culture), and like to use devices until they physically break. One day, the Mac just would no longer properly hold a charge, and could only be used when plugged in. I considered this to be my sign to bite the bullet and finally get a thinkpad. I've been so busy, I only recently booted up my mac to transfer the files for this website.
I'm still getting used to the feel of a thinkpad, it's HUGE (t580) but I'll get there eventually. (Also I switched to mint because Debian had issues with audio. Does anyone know how to fix Debian being unable to unmute audio? Please email, thank you!)
Yes!
I have tried to keep my connections despite neglecting this site. I have a PEERTUBE that I use for horse videos (with random commentary from me.) I have horse photos too! They'll be posted on this website eventually, I would need to organize them all. I went to the Santa Anita Derby recently, but couldn't get good footage due to the crowds... I DO have good general footage though. I will upload more videos soon! I'm picky about which videos make the cut. Maybe I'll edit some of the older videos so they're of the same quality and upload those too.
Since I'll be moving, it's likely I'll have more horse videos, but I will try to get footage of anything I find interesting. I really enjoy recording animal videos, but also would like to have a recipes page for chinese dishes (similar to ashley's or based cooking) and tutorials and how to cook them. No dog dishes though.. sorry to dissappoint.
Trance Archival project is still ongoing. It will likely also go into the Denpa range, as I commonly get CDs from both genres. All my CDs have been safely packed, but once I am finished with my move, I plan on starting the archival process. I will be traveling to Japan soon, so I'll also be on the lookout for interesting music there too.
Finally, I have also started obtaining untranslated Visual Novels. Although I am not good at Japanese, I'd like to use them as a learning experience, and may talk about my experiences with each of them. Maybe if they're easy enough, I'll make translations and have them reviewed by people who know the language far better than I do and put them here.
In short, I have many, many plans, sorry for the absence, I am not dead! I'll be trying to finish my resources page next (highest priority) and then slowly catch up with everything else.
